A party fit for a princess!
I cannot even imagine a better party for my little girl (I had so much fun) I mean Riley had so much fun! The smiles and screams from these 6 precious faces...everything pink, everything Princess, the perfect party!
Jack tried to talk her out of it, he was pushing hard for Chuck E Cheese and I thought he had her there for a bit..then one day during one of our many birthday party chats she said what she really wanted was 5 friends after school at our house for lunch and cake- well you got it! We made necklaces, tiaras, magic wands, we painted nails and ate pizza and princess cake and I truly cannot imagine a more perfect day and I think Riley felt the same!

Our little Angel
She was so sweet, she is such a doll- she was so sick and about 2/3rd the way through she started crying, her throat hurt, she had a fever (she put her head down and cried every couple seconds looking up at me and silently asking what she should do?) - it was all downhill from there but she held it together and was the cutest little angel there ever was.
Come to Bethlehem- the perfect way to remind ourselves what Christmas and the holidays are all about and get you in the spirit.
We are so proud of you Rys!
Love you- Mommy and Daddy

Merry Christmas! Love, The Roberts Family
This was the picture we used for the annual family Christmas card-
This is the one that I wanted to use! The kids faces cracked me up and seemed to capture what really happens when you are in a rush trying to pull together the photo card under pressure! Love it!
You really just have to laugh and have fun- cuz' that's just what we do!

Making a list-
Jack and Riley have been making their "Dear Santa" lists and literally racking their brains to think of anything and everything that they might want Santa to deliver on Chritmas. One of the items on Jack's list is "Milk and Cookies"- Jack said "Mom, I am going to write- Hey Santa, I'm Jack and I am sleeping on the top bunk, if you come and wake me up I will eat milk and cookies with you!"
Wouldn't that be awesome?
Wouldn't that be awesome?
Getting ready for Christmas~
This year I am hoping to teach the kids a little more about Christmas, about the idea of giving gifts and sharing all of our blessings with those around us-
At chapel the other day we had the opportunity to take ornaments for the Spirit of Giving tree- each one has the name and age of a child in need and what they would like for Christmas, I read all the ornaments and selected two, thinking that this would be the perfect opportunity to talk to the kids about the meaning of Christmas, go to the store together and pick out presents for children who otherwise would not have anything to open on Christmas morning.
So, I told Jack and Riley about this, "we are going to go to the store and select gifts and how happy these children will be...blah blah blah." Jack's response "No way Mom, I am not sharing my stuff", ok not exactly the reaction I was hoping for maybe I haven't made my point clear about how poor some people are and how lucky and blessed we are to have everything we want. "So kids, do you realize that some parents cannot afford gifts for their children and some kids will wake up on Christmas morning and have nothing under their tree"- I was digging deep I needed to make an impact, squash any selfish thoughts they were having and really make it clear just how lucky they are. I probably had a tear in my eye, feeling that this was an opportunity to teach and to shape them and then Riley said- "but Mom, it's ok, because Santa Claus brings a gift for every child on Christmas day, don't be sad".

Kids say the funniest things-
If I don't "blog it" now, I will never remember...here's what Jack and Riley have been doing and saying that crack us up-
Jack is really figuring things out, a little too much if you ask me...he has a very hard time waiting these days- waiting for anything no matter the amount of time- The other day I was in my room with Brennan and Jack called out to me from the kitchen saying he wanted a granola bar that was on the top shelp of the pantry- I said "please wait, I will get it in one minute", Jack replied, "Mom, I am not a genius you know, I am standing on a chair!".
He also is into anything and everything, often picking things up or taking them from shelves or the places they belong and then absentmindedly playing with them and forgetting about them...hmmm, "Jack what did you do with my little scissors- the ones that I always keep in my make up bag in the bathroom?" to that he replied- "Mom, I don't know, I seriously think there is a mystery person around here."
Sure there is bud-

Pre- tree trim
Not sure if we even got a picture once the tree was decorated, that's just how it goes these days- but the kids picked out a perfect tree and we had lots of fun decorating it!
